Train to teach at SEARCH Education Trust

At SEARCH Education Trust, we offer a comprehensive teacher training program across all schools within the Trust, through multiple pathways ensuring aspiring educators receive the highest quality training and support.

Training Pathways at SEARCH Education Trust

We provide several teacher training routes, designed to cater to diverse career aspirations and prior experience, ensuring there’s a pathway for everyone.

  1. School Direct Salaried Route, designed for individuals with prior teaching experience or those transitioning from other careers. Trainees are employed by the school, earning a competitive salary (minimum UQT1) while training. Schools may also benefit from salary grants of up to £28,000 from the Department for Education.

  2. School Direct Non-Salaried Route, available through partnerships with various SCITT providers such as Compton School. Trainees apply directly to the partnership and are placed in a partner school within the network.

  3. Teach First,  a prestigious program aimed at high-potential graduates. Teach First provides immediate classroom experience, leadership development, and a salary while trainees make a real impact.
  4. PGCE, a route that enables trainees to gain QTS while studying at university and completing two placements in two separate schools. We works with providers such as UCL and Middlesex University
  5. Apprenticeship Route, allows trainees to earn while they train, gaining both QTS and a PGCE through an apprenticeship program. Ideal for those looking for a work-based learning approach.

Hear From Trainees

Trainees’ reflections on their proudest moments include:

  • “Witnessing a student’s confidence grow as they mastered a challenging concept.”
  • “The sense of belonging and recognition I felt as part of the school community.”
  • “Returning to a warm welcome from students and staff at my placement school was unforgettable.”
